Things are getting real spooky on the old leather couch this Halloween as we heed the warning of The Omen. And after five long years we finally welcome Gregory Peck back into the basement. In Seen It, we talk horror: frenzied killers, vampire killers and a certain VVitch makes a re-appearance.
Have you seen the two Swedish “westerns” The Emigrants (1971) and The New Land (1972), directed by Jan Troell? Also by the same director, Zandy’s Bride (1974), an American production. Seen it?
Funny you happen to feature THE VVITCH as part of “Seen It!” (I comment on it elsewhere…)
I was fortunate enough to see the original “The Omen” at a sneak preview on 6-6-76. At the time, they really were “sneak previews” and you didn’t know what you were getting going into the theater. I used to do a lot of these and this was certainly the best of all the movies I ever saw in going to sneak previews. Scared me out of my seat and into the lobby for extra popcorn at several points during the showing! Agree that Gregory Peck was perfectly cast in the staring role. Unfortunately, all the subsequent sequels and remakes were really lame.
